Baby Caterpillars Room – 9 to 18 Months

Welcome to our Baby Caterpillars Room, a warm, nurturing and carefully designed environment created especially for our youngest little learners aged 9 to 18 months.

We understand that starting nursery is an important milestone for both babies and their families. Our priority is to create a safe, loving and stimulating home-from-home environment where babies can feel secure, develop strong relationships with their key person and confidently begin exploring the world around them.

Our Baby Caterpillars benefit from a carefully planned, age-appropriate environment that provides opportunities for sensory exploration, movement, communication and physical development. Babies are encouraged to explore through touch, sound, movement and play, supporting their natural curiosity and developing independence.

Our practitioners provide a variety of engaging experiences that support the three prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

The room provides opportunities for babies to enjoy sensory and exploratory play, books and stories, music and rhymes, creative experiences, physical play and age-appropriate resources that encourage them to reach, grasp, crawl, move, explore and develop their emerging skills.

We recognise that every baby is unique and develops at their own pace. Our experienced practitioners work closely with parents and carers to understand each child's individual routine, interests, needs and stage of development, helping to provide continuity between home and nursery.

As our Baby Caterpillars grow in confidence, independence and ability, we carefully support their transition into our Caterpillars Room for children aged 18 months to 3 years, providing continuity throughout their learning journey.

From their very first days at LearnAid Nursery, we want our youngest children to feel safe, happy, loved and excited to explore as they begin their journey with us.
